A Mortlach that bucks the distillery's conventional heavy, meaty style for something equally delicious, but rather more playful. Full of bright fruits paired with old and dignified tones that recall a library, this is a whisky that seems to showcase it all. Bottled at an imminently drinkable 54.3%, this really checks all the boxes. And with only 170 bottles produced, you're likely to regret getting only one.
Product Type | Whiskey |
Style | Single Malt |
ABV | 54.3% |
Country | Scotland |
The nose leads with malt. Nilla wafer cookies and pear drop candies underneath. It's all rounded out with a mature character, like old books.
The palate is all fruity deliciousness. You get pears and bananas. Jujifruit candy. Fruit pop popsicles. And then a slight oakiness.
On the finish, the influence of the 1st use hogshead grows. You have the wood becoming more present, along with a cabinet's-worth of sweet and savory spices. Malt suddenly reappears. Then it evolves and morphs a long while among these notes and more.
