What started as a small barrel-picking group in 2016, the Shortbarrel name has become a staple on the shelves of home bars—assigned only to the barrels that meet the group's high standards. They welcome you to their club and hope you appreciate as much as we do that no two barrels will be the same.
Shortbarrel is proud to offer this single barrel to ReserveBar as a standout cask strength bourbon, bottled in Atlanta at 118.6 proof. This barrel is as unique as they come. It has passed Shortbarrel's high standards and is ready to have a special place in your bar. Cheers to high standards and great friends.
From Lee Diaz, Topflight Series Panel Member:
What is on your list of growing whiskey brands that you see making a name for themselves in the industry? On my shortlist is Shortbarrel. Having started as a barrel-picking group, they have quickly made a name—backed by a wide range of multi-award-winning releases. Earlier this year, I jumped at the chance to travel to the ATL to open a few barrels with this astounding team. The first of our selections was this incredible pour: a Cask Strength Bourbon.
Before you even crack the bottle, you'll notice the 75 / 13 / 12 mash bill—one you've likely come to love in recent Booker's releases. On the nose, you'll discover what the Shortbarrel team noted as "smelling an empty old-fashioned glass." You should expect orange zest, cherry, maple, and oak. It's a gloriously inviting scent.
Clocking in at 118.6 proof, this is a highly drinkable release boasting baking spices, cherry cobbler, graham cracker, and cinnamon. On the finish, you'll discover a spicy sweetness reminiscent of fine liqueur. Delight in the essence of blackberry and caramelized sugar, balanced by oak and a touch of dryness from tannin and tobacco. Revel in the long, fiery finish, accompanied by notes of almond, wood, corn, and a hint of maple syrup. This prepares you to embrace the intensity and liveliness of the peppery undertones.
This is another reason to love Shortbarrel; it's a single barrel I can't wait for you to enjoy.
