About
Here we honor two states known for their heritage of notable rye whiskeys – Kentucky and Maryland – by using a distinctive blend of three unique rye whiskey mashbills. The perfect union of these barrels creates an unparalleled experience. From the founders of the popular podcast, Bourbon Pursuit. Pursuit United Rye was developed after the bourbon as a way to showcase "the art of the blend." After the successful launch of Pursuit United Bourbon, we set our eyes on rye whiskey. It's a growing category and an immediate go-to spirit for crafters of cocktails because the rye spice really shines. Of the rye whiskey on the market today, 80% comes from one factory in Indiana. While the whiskey is great, it's something that's been done over and over again. United Rye started out the same as the bourbon, by looking for distilling partners who had amazing rye whiskey. This particular blend uses three different rye whiskeys to create a unique flavor experience. We started talking to our distilling partner at Bardstown Bourbon Company and loved the 95/5 rye whiskey they were creating in the heart of Kentucky. To make this fit in the United portfolio, we needed to find another source of great rye whiskey. This led us to Sagamore Spirit Distillery in Baltimore. Maryland has a rich history of rye whiskey and Sagamore creates two different rye whiskey mashbills. They have a standard 95/5, but also a 52% rye that uses more corn. The 52% rye was notable in earlier eras and became a prominent component in this blend. We envision Pursuit United Rye as "the bourbon drinker's rye" because of how the 52% mashbill brings more sweetness and tones down the two other 95/5 mashbills, delivering a perfect balance of sweetness and spice. Enjoy this pursuit.
