Our unique character is enriched by finishing in oak casks infused with Barbadian Rum - remembering Captain Theobald Magee, an 18th century Irish Soldier and Sailor, famed for smuggling Spirits from the South back to his home port in Portmagee, Ireland.

      Portmagee is crafted in small batches of just six hand-selected Barbados Rum casks per release. Single cask married, triple-distilled, non-chill filtered and with no added coloring, it is an easy sipping and approachable Irish Whiskey for beginners, yet packed with enough flavor and depth of character to excite any aficionado. Portmagee Whiskey was featured in Whiskey Advocate’s Summer 2023 edition, Amazing Ireland, Irish Whiskeys To Try Now. This ”Satisfying Sipper” received a 91 Whisky Advocate rating, outstanding: a whisky of superior character and style.

      Tasting Notes

      Nose

      Gentle Malty Nose with warm apple sponge, coconut, toasted-oak vanillins and toffee apple.

      Palate

      Creamy butter-toffee mouthfeel yields to surge of single malt mild-tongue with notes of rich Irish fruit cake and dark chocolate.

      Finish

      Warm malt lingers and slowly fades to smooth and throat soothing Barbados Rum Finish.

      Ingredients
      1.5 oz Portmagee Irish Whiskey
      3 oz Ginger Ale
      Pinch Irish Sea Salt
      2 wedges Fresh Cut Lime
      2 wedges Fresh Cut Florida Orange
      Steps
      1 Fill glass halfway with ice cubes.
      2 Sprinkle pinch of Sea Salt over the ice.
      3 Add small squeeze of lime and then Florida orange.
      4 Add Portmagee Irish Whiskey.
      5 Top with Ginger Ale.
      6 Garnish with thin wedges of Lime and Florida orange.
