In 2018, three guys saw where the market was headed—not enough bourbon supply driving demand through the roof and creating impossible allocations for them and their friends to get the good whiskey that had brought them together. One of their favorite past-times has been traveling nationwide and picking single barrels with friends, but that memory was vanishing quickly.

By March 2021, this work had continued. And so much so that they had to open up their own distillery to house it all. Now you know the journey to making Nashville Barrel Company a reality. And with the development of our own single barrel program, we get to share even more whiskey with enthusiasts and friends like you.

Members of the ReserveBar Tasting Panel traveled to Nashville one morning in May to taste through six barrels, painstakingly discussing the virtues of each. And finally, they focused their sights on this release—a stunning 119.4 proof 6-year Single Barrel MGP Bourbon from our award-winning Nashville Barrel Company.

The Nashville Barrel Company has quickly established itself as a resounding presence in the whiskey space, taking the passion of seeking out incredible barrels and making it into an astounding long-term, award-winning business. This brand immediately amassed key awards, including Double Gold and Best in Class for Single Barrel Bourbon Under 10 Years, in the 2022 San Francisco World Spirits Competitions. So, of course, when we scheduled a road trip from Georgia to Kentucky, we had to stop in the middle to get to Nashville Barrel Company—and they pulled no punches.

Led by Co-Founder and Mix Master James Davenport, we went on an adventure in flavors, starting with four delectable bourbons, rolling into Rye, and finishing at finishes. Every pour led to outward expressions of "Wow!" and "What!?"—and in the end, we knew we had found a winner. This 6-year Single Barrel MGP Bourbon was the second barrel we tasted, and it was an instant standout. It was one where you move on to other things but constantly go back to it. At 119.4 proof, it is delightfully bold without being too hot. On the nose, you'll discover maple syrup, hazelnut, dark fruit, and vanilla cake. Cinnamon, cherry cola, and dark chocolate cashews come from the first sip, leading into a long finish of toasted oak, s'mores, mint, and leather. It's a pour full of surprises, leaving you ready for the next sip.
