No distillery matches the complexity and depth of Laphroaig. Intense smoke, salt from the sea, echoes of sweetness. Each cask tells a story steeped in flavor and craft. This Laphroaig 2014 Virgin French Oak Single Cask perfectly balances sweet, fruity, and smoky flavors with prevalent peat notes, caramelized fruits, and oiled wood.
From Lee Diaz, Topflight Series Panel Member:
On the nose, you will discover the typical smoky aroma matched with a sweet and fruity undertone, with notes of ripe red berries, vanilla, and caramel. The whisky has a full-bodied and robust flavor, with a strong peat smoke character that coats the mouth. The sweetness from the nose is still present, but now it takes the form of honey, toffee, and dark chocolate. The oak influence becomes more pronounced, with flavors of toasted oak, nutmeg, and cloves. The finish is long and warming, with a lingering smokiness and a slight bitterness from the oak tannins. There are also hints of citrus and black pepper that provide a refreshing and spicy aftertaste.
