The Jack Daniel’s Special Release series highlights a limited innovation from the Jack Daniel Distillery, and this year’s may be a little unexpected - a new grain bill from Lynchburg, Tennessee - 100% Malted Barley. Master Distiller Chris Fletcher and his team of whiskey makers set out with a desire to craft a uniquely American Single Malt Whiskey. The 2022 Jack Daniel’s Special Release is a one-of-a-kind experience crafted from 100% malted barley and twice barreled for a complex taste. Bottled in its truest form straight from an Oloroso sherry cask, with the proof ranging from 106.1-107.8.
Production Method: Our special release starts with 100% malted barley, which contains flavors of roasted nuts and toasted bread. We then grind and ferment the whole grain, distill it in our copper stills, and finally pass it through our traditional charcoal mellowing process. It’s then matured in our brand new, charred oak barrels, to capture Jack Daniel’s signature taste of caramel and vanilla. It is then transferred into the finest quality Spanish Oloroso sherry casks from the Antonio Paez Lobato Cooperage for a minimum of two years and, finally, bottled straight from the cask at cask proof.
Cask Finish: Oloroso Sherry Casks
