About
Tequila Fortaleza is a small-batch, handcrafted tequila. It is made today with the same production methods that our family used to make tequila, over one hundred and forty years ago! We select each agave for ripeness before it is harvested, and cook them by steam in our small brick oven. We then use a two-ton stone wheel called a tahona to slowly squeeze the juices from the agave. After adding water from the volcanic mountain of Tequila and separating the fibers, we ferment the musto for 3 to 5 days. When fermentation is complete, we achieve our distinctive tequila by distilling twice in two very small, copper-pot stills. Fortaleza Añejo is aged for 18 months is used American Whiskey barrels. The extra time spent aging in these barrels impart deeper, richer, and warmer tones than our reposado. Common aromas and flavors found in our añejo are: Cooked Agave, Sweet Butter, Butterscotch, Caramel, Vanilla, Citrus, Dried Fruit, Tropical Fruit, Cinnamon, White Pepper, Cloves, Nuts, and Dry Earth. All of our tequilas are deliciously wonderful and complex, and can be enjoyed neat, or in a cocktail!

Absolute best tequila at any price
Taste is, of course, subjective. So I certainly don't dispute the other reviewer's strong preference to 1942. Fortaleza Anejo has been my favorite tequila for years. Last year I bought a bottle of 1942 and didn't like it nearly as much as Fortaleza. With that said, if I was offered a glass of 1942, I would take it in a heartbeat! But given a choice, Fortaleza Anejo wins every time. Odd that reserve bar lists the price at $90, but when I put in my address it goes up to $440!

I'm on a serious hunt to keep this restock
This is an all natural made tequila that is addictive free from artificial sweeteners, and other bull that big name tequilas put out. This product is well made with its nice buttery mouth feeling, and has a soft touch of vanilla(amazing sipper). This is a definite must have for a tequila collector, such as myself. Do yourself a favor and drink real natural tequila. Drop Casamigos, Don Julio 42, Clase Azul, and any other huge name brands. Look for tequilas that are addictive free.
