"Our rum was bottled for the first time in 2013, in collaboration with Barceló Rum, on the occasion of the 110th year anniversary of La Aurora Cigars…celebrating an extraordinary Company history. The aging process for E. Leon Jimenes Rum is quite unique, consisting of the first eight years in virgin American White Oak barrels…with the final two years in virgin French Oak for Sherry tuns."The result is a one of a kind experience where notes of toffee, honey, roasted almonds, coffee, caramel, spicy sweetness and sherry come together in a extra smooth and balanced taste that earned E. Leon Jimenes Rum a score of 97 points with the Beverage Testing Institute and in 2020, a Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition (1,500 - 2,000 spirits compete, with no more than 10 Double Gold Medal Awards being awarded by category).
