About
Don Melchor represents Chile’s first ever “Icon” red wine. This signature Cabernet Sauvignon originates from the famed Puente Alto vineyard in Chile’s Maipo Valley. With over 20 vintages of 90+ point scores from the world’s top wine critics, Don Melchor enjoys an unparalleled record for demonstrating Chile’s ability to create an exquisite world-class wine. Crafted by internationally renowned winemaker Enrique Tirado, this wine represents an assemblage of Cabernet Sauvignons and Cabernet Franc originating from 7 distinct, yet contiguous sub-divided blocks with vines ranging from 25-30 years old. Each contributes something special to the final blend. PRODUCTION AREA: Puente Alto Vineyard, Maipo Valley, Chile. GRAPE VARIETIES: Predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon, with small amounts of Cabernet Franc. TASTING NOTES: Don Melchor is a bright ruby red. Elegant and complex on the nose, brimming with notes of black currants and spice complemented by chocolate and tobacco. Fresh red fruit features in a well-balanced wine with soft tannins, giving way to a refined, persistent finish. FOOD PAIRING: Don Melchor Cabernet Sauvignon is appropriate with any hearty dish, especially lamb and steak. RECOGNITION: Don Melchor Cabernet Sauvignon has a Wine Spectator score of 95. (Wine Spectator, March 2014)
