      Two James Doctor Bird Rum

      Beyond the Label

      Two James is located in Corktown, Detroit’s oldest neighborhood, and is the first licensed distillery in Detroit since Prohibition. Two James is committed to producing only the highest quality environmentally conscious handmade spirits utilizing locally sourced agricultural products with the aim of revitalizing the community and reinforcing the craft product movement.

      Because of our belief in the importance of local agriculture and the fact that sugar cane isn’t readily available in Michigan, we decided to take our Rum project to the Caribbean, and the “Land of Wood and Water”. We import several different Jamaican rums and ship them back to our distillery in Detroit where they are artfully blended and aged in special Moscatel barrique.  The result is a high esther flavor bomb of incredible length and complexity.  The Doctor is most definitely IN!

      Tasting Notes

      Nose

      The rum delivers a funky sweet ester-rich aroma of passion fruit, coconut husks, and dried lemon peel.

      Notes

      Additional notes of pineapple, pencil lead, and ripe strawberries also appear.

      Taste

      As you sip this dense spirit these aromas appear on the palate along with dark caramel, grapefruit pith, and charred oak.

      FINISH

      The long finish is a swirl of the ripe strawberries, oak tannins, and copper mineral notes that linger on the tongue long after the rum is gone.

      2oz Rum
      1oz Lime Juice
      Steps
      1 Glass.
      2 Add 2oz Rum.
      3 Add 1oz Lime.
      4 Top glass with Ginger Beer.
