The Cloudy Bay story is one of adventure and commitment. In 1983 David Hohnen tasted his first Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand.  Captivated by its intensity, he began a journey to bottle the essence of Marlborough and share it with the world. David launched Cloudy Bay with a promise of uncompromising quality from grape to glass. It’s been that way ever since.

We began as one of the first 5 wineries in Marlborough, and are renowned for our Sauvignon Blanc.  Wine writer Oz Clarke has called it “the world’s most famous white wine, [that] forever changed our view of what white wine could and should taste like.”

Cloudy Bay wines are the pure taste of our home, an expression of our appreciation, admiration and respect for the land.

LAFCO New York is a modern fragrance company dedicated to elevating everyday moments into powerful sensory journeys.  LAFCO (for Luxury Articles and Fragrance Company) is inspired by our founder and nose, Jon Bresler, and his passion for the European tradition of botanical based fragrances and  formulations.

In 2021, Cloudy Bay and LAFCO teamed up to create a luxurious fragrance inspired by the land and the vineyards in New Zealand.  The enticing aromas are from natural essential oils, and include Manuka (earthy and herbaceous), Sea Foam (refreshing and exhilarating), and Manuka Wood (aromatic and invigorating).  The signature 15.5 oz. candle comes in a hand-blown glass vessel, and will burn for up to 90 hours.
