Arcanum Toscana Rosso

Arcanum is the pinnacle of the estate's offerings. Based on Cabernet Franc, the true signature of this Tuscan estate, this remarkable red wine is built to age yet is drinkable young. It is a wine that is seductive yet subtle.

Arcanum is sourced primarily from the Cabernet Franc vineyard blocks l’Apparita and Belvedere. With superb exposure and sandy clay soils, these blocks shine to produce the finest expression of the variety, and the leading wine of the estate. The l’Apparita vineyard is located slightly above the entrance tunnel to the estate and lies at 400 meters (1300 feet) above sea level. It was planted in 1998 and is one of the first vineyards dedicated to Cabernet Franc. “Belvedere” is Italian for “nice view” and indeed, at an altitude of 500 meters (1640 feet) above sea level, this vineyard grants a magnificent view over the whole estate. The fruit is hand-picked and cold soaked for 3-5 days. Fermented on skins in stainless steel for 18-25 days. Drained and pressed directly into barrels and racked every four months. Bottled 22 months after vintage with minimal filtration, aged a minimum of two years in bottle before release.

Pierre Seillan’s passion lies in crafting wines from diverse terroirs to capture the unique expression of Tuscany in each vintage. He works closely with Winemaker Lawrence Cronin, believing his job is to respect tradition, but also enhance the future.
