No one really knows when the Queen's Park Swizzle was invented, but by the 1920's they were being served daily at the Queen's Park Hotel in Trinidad. An escape for the elite traveling in the Caribbean, the hotel hosted famous names from around the world, and the word of the Queen's Park Swizzle spread. Trader Joe famously included the recipe in his book "Trader Vic's Book of Food & Drink" after a stay at the Queen's Park Hotel, calling it “the most delightful form of anesthesia given out today.".

Raymond Edwards, Chief Brand Educator for the House of Angostura, has brought the iconic drink back into the forefront. A decorated mixologist, winning multiple awards and competitions across the Caribbean, Raymond wanted to bring back the authentically Trinidadian drink. "The Queen's Park Swizzle's history is intertwined with Trinidad, just like Angostura's. It is something that is authentically us."

12-14 Mint leaves
6-8 Dashes Angostura®️ aromatic bitters

Recipe

  1. Using a collins glass, place muddled mint leaves, lime juice and simple syrup into the glass.
  2. Then fill the glass with crushed ice.
  3. Next, pour the rum over crushed ice and swizzle well until glass is ice-cold and frosted.
  4. Finally, pack with more crushed ice and top with ANGOSTURA®️ aromatic bitters.
  5. Garnish with mint leaves and serve.
